AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.

THE DEMAND FOE SPACE. (By Telegraph.—Special' Correspondent.) Auckland, May 13. The great demand for space at the Exhibition, which is already in excess of tlio accommodation planned in tho original buildings, without allowing for the (government and provincial courts, has necessitated the erection of another building. Tho exeoutivo of tho Exhibition lias been faced for somo time-with tho knowledge that further accommodation is necessary, and it lias now been decided that an extra structure is to be built near tho main drive and tho ponds. The site was selected by tho president (Mr. (x. Elliot), the secretary (Mr. tV. E, Holmes), and tho overseer (Mr. Pcarce), who mado a caretul inspection of tho grounds. It is pronosed to uso it for tlio ( housing of the Government exhibition and tho provincial courts. Separated by some distance from the main building, it will be a'Complete section. Tho now building will havo a very picturosquo situation, and will bo constructed in harmony with the general architecture of the Exhibition. The building .will probably be commenced very soon. Sir James Mills, managing director of the Union Company, was an interested * visitor to tho_ Exhibition grounds and buildings during his visit to- Auckland last week. He stated that the Union Company intended to contribute some very .fine exhibits to the ■ section which will be occupied by tho various shipping firms' displays.' The company would sTiow a number of models, including one of the new steamer Niagara, and probablv there would also be a map of tho Pacific "Ocean on which the position of the company's steamers would ■be shown daily. He said ho would communicato with tho Canadian-Pacific Railway. Company to seo if it would, as ho believed it would, give somo assistance by providing an exhibit. The P. and 0. Company intends to show a model, 17ft, long, of tho steamer Maloja, and the Huddart-Parker Company and the Northern Steamship Company will also mako exhibits.
