"THE KING OF THIEVES"
VERY BUSY IN SYDNEY. AN ARREST MADE. Br Telegraph—Preii Aisooiation—Copyright (Kec. May 8, 9 p.m.) Sydney, May 8. Tho armed and masked burglar who entered Alderman Kelly's residence at Eoso Bay, and after terrorising and locking up tho servants, got away with a quantity of silverware, left a note signed "Tho King of Thieves." This morning the "Sun" newspaper received a telephone call, asking if that office had heard anything of a burglary at the residence of Mr. Kerr, a bookmaker at Coogee. The speaker at the other end declared himself to be "Tho King of Thieves." Tho "Sun" office communicated with Mr. Korr, who, on examining his premises, found that his office had been burgled and £50 worth of postal notes and cheques taken. A note, signed "The King of Thieves," was found on a table, thanking the owner for som9 cigars which had been appropriated. A man has been arrested in the city with some of the missing property in his possession.
