A WARNING NOTE,

AGAINST EARLY BREEDING. A warning note against, the practico of having heifers freshen for the first time when they are little more than calves has been sounded several times of late in Canadian farm journals. One expert, writing on this subject, remarks that he does not. believe in having n. cow come in until she is threo years old. He goes a' step further, and adds that ho believes that if a cow conies in at four years old she will give as much milk by the time she is 10 years old as a euw bred to calvo earlier. This early breeding, the writer urges, is bound to'result in small, undeveloped cows, although some breeders who follow this undesirable practice argue (hat good feeding alter the/heifer comes in will enable her to regain her size. If a breeder has any doubts on tho 'subject, it does not cost much for him to test tho desirability of tbo two systems for himself, and then he will know for certain.
