FINANCIAL MATTERS. The balance-sheet of the Manawahi A. and P. Association was placed beforo the Inrt meeting »f tho general committee and showed the association to be in a very satisfactory position. According to the balance-sheet, the total assets aro •£21,833 3s. lid.; gross profits, X 1877 12s. lOd. (including returns from "Wheeler .Memorial and Pascal Bros', transaction). Tho value of the buildings had been written down by .£1234 t(>s. 7d. f leaving tho value al <£11,000: the total writingdown amounted to «£l3B-f fis. fld., and «S4fll 6s. Id. v;as carried forward and transferred to capital account. Tho president (Mr. T. R. Hodder) stated that he had great pleasure in receiving the balance-sheet. ,This had beeu one of tho most interesting, successful, and profitable years the association had experienced. They must all feel very thalikfnl that the past fourteen months had been such a successful period. The association was able, for the first time for many years, to show a profit above and.beyond tho prizo money which was regularly collected. There was a general profit of .£BOO odd (apart from the- "Wheeler Memorial aDd Pascal Bros.). They had collected about «£GOO, and with trophies and donations the amount ran up to about .£BOO. He moved that the balance-sheet be adopted and printed, and that the annual /eporfc be drawn up by tho chairman, the secretary, and tho treasurer. Mr. A. Conway, the past president, seconded the motion. He said tho association could congratulate itself on having passed through one of its most successful years and attained a better position than it had occupied hitherto. The motion was carried unanimously.
