MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
CHARGE OF ASSAULT. TERRITORIALS AND AN OFFICER. In the Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., three young territorials—Geoffrey Seymour, Felix Seymour, and Arthur Shellam— wci'o charged with having assaulted William Frank Tebbutt, an artillery officer. On the application of Mr. P. J. O'Regan, wno • appeared for tho defendants, a remand till Saturday was granted. PUNISHED FOR THEFT. Frederick Smith and Cyril Hoskin pleaded guilty to two charges of theft. On Monday they stole 17 shirts from W. 11. Gooday, mercer, Courtenay Place, and an overcoat from Veitch and Allan, of Cuba Street. Chicf-Detective Broberg stated that after stealing the shirts, the accused had disposed of them to a second-hand dealer for 10s., and had sold the overcoat for lfis. Cd. Hoskin had previously been in trouble for dishonesty. Smith was fined .£2, and was ordered to pay S:I Cs. Gd. to tho second-hand dealer. Hoskin wa.s sentenced to one month's imprisonment. BOOTS AND SOCKS. Edward George Begley vws fined ,£1 for stealing a pair of boots and a pair of socks belonging to William Henderson.
