COURT OF APPEAL.

INSURANCE CO.'S RIGHT TO LIGHT. A Christchurch case occupied the attention of tho Court, of Appeal all day yesterday. The Bench was occupied by the Chief Justice (Sir Rolxn't Stout), ill'. Justice Williams, and Mr. Justice Denniston. Tha parties were Edward Cephas John Stevens, land and estate agent, Christchurch, and ]|.cnry Coltorill, solicitor, Christchurch, plaintiffs, and the National Mutual Life Association of Australasia, Ltd., defendants.

Mr. iT. W. Stringer, K.C., of Christcliureh, with Mr. 11. .1. Bcswick, of Christchurch, appeared for the plaintiffs, whilo Mr. C. li. Trcadwell, with Mr. M. J. Grosson, of Christchurch, appeared for the defendants.

Tho action originally camo on in Christehurch early this year, and after evidence had been taken, an order was mado removing it into tho Court of Appeal for 'argument on certain questions of law. The wholo case (there is a claim and coun-ter-claim) concerns the right to light, or otherwise, of tho National Mutual Life Association in regard to a building on a certain section fronting on Hereford Street, Christchurch. For tho purposes of argument, it was arranged that Mr. Trcadwell should • open yesterday. All four counsel addressed tho Court, and the hearing concluded Just before 4.30 p.m. Decision was reserved.
