A Masterton Wedding. Our Masterton correspondent writes that a pretty wedding took place in St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, yesterday atternoon, when Miss Eisio Mabel Nit/,, youngest daughter of the late Mr. Herman iS'itz, ot Stoiisborough, Jiast Coast, was married to Mr. M. S. Wills, youngest sou of Mr. P. Wills, of Muritni, Wellington. The bride wore a gown of white satin, draped with old lace, and a beautifully embroidered veil fastened with a circlet of pearls. She was attended by the Misses li-owlands (2), Aileen Nitz, and Uichards as bridesmaids. Mr. It. 15. Voss, of Wellington, was best mail, and Mr. Wills, brother of tho bridegroom, groomsman. After tho ceremony, which was performed by tho l!ev. Slands, of Tinui, a large number of guests wero entertained at the Exchango Jlall, and later the brido and bridegroom took their departure for tho north. The Hadfield Hostel and the Chrysanthemum Show. This afternoon tlio chrysanthemum show, organised to "benefit the funds of the Hudiield Hostel, erected in memory of the late Bishop Hadiield, and since proved to bo a valuable aujunct of Victoria College, in the fact that it'is a residential College, is being opened in the .Sydney Street Schoolroom. It is hoped that tho Prima Minister, Mr. Massey, will bo able to perform tho opening ceremony, which is timed to take, placo at threo o'clock, and visitors to tho show may be quite assured that they will spend a most interesting hour or so making tho round of the various . attractions that have been provided for their entertainment. Flower lovers will 500 much to give them pleasure, as there will bo some very fine exhibits sent in from various parts of tho Dominion, including Napier, Hastings, New Plymouth, Otaki, Wairarapa, etc. Local growers, too, will bo well represented, and a notable attraction will bo tlio orchids which. Mr. Izard is sending in for exhibition. Being a chrysanthemum 6how, these very lovely flowers will be a prominent feature, but, in addition, there will bo pot plants and a variety of other flowers that will bo well worth inspecting. There will bo competitions for tho nmrmement of those who are given to unravelling these brain-racking mysteries, a fortune-tellor for the curious, and music provided tyy a good band. Last, but not least, delightful afternoon tea will bo obtainable. Flowers and 1 home-made cakes may be obtained from stalls which havo been erected for their display. 'It is always pleasant to be able to combine pleasure with an aspiration to assist an excellent cause, and here is the opportunity for both, The flower show will bo held in the evening as well.
A Cookery Demonstration, Yesterday afternoon an interesting demonstration of cookery was given in the Masonic Hall, Boulcott Street, by Miss Cartel - , expert and medallist in cookery, judging I)}' the number of women who make a point of attending the cookery demonstrations which are now so irc(liiently given in Wellington, an absorbing interest would appear to be taken in this important art and 0110 cannot doubt but that if meets with much encouragement from those members of their households who have earned the reputation of. regarding its masterpieces with a deep and tender interest. Miss Carter is an exceedingly deft and businesslike exponent of cooking, and does not waste her time. Her directions and explanations are concise and to the point and the results of her labour appeared to give much satisfaction to. her audience. On this occasion she dealt with that bug-.bear of tho housewife, the difficulty of turning to appetising advantage the disconcerting remains of meals that will confront her, do what she will. Tho braised steak was all that tho heart of man could desire and most attractive looking were the cauliflower pasties. Included in Miss Carter's programme were lemon toffee, banana and bacon rolls, popovers, and fish boiled in the oven. Miss Carter is prepared to sive lessons in advanced cookery, and will teach as well how to prepare for suppers, dihners, garden and tennis parties, wedding breakfasts. etc. Another freo demonstration will be given in tho same place "this afternoon and evening. Mr. James Hortom (Brisbane) and Miss Horton arrived in Auckland on Sunday, on a visit fo Dr. Horton, of Dargaville. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Holmwood, of MasItrton, and their little daughter, leavo Wellington to-morrow by the s.s. Rangntira for London. They will probably be away for about six months. •Mr. G. A. Hirsch, of Hanover (Canada), general manager of the Continental Hubher Company, and Mrs. Ilirsch arrived in Auckland on Sunday by tha Maheno. Mr. and Mrs.' Louis Blundell left Wellington yesterday ior Auckland, wheiro tlicy join tho Niagara for Vancouver. Mr. and Mrs. 11. Oppenheim, of New York, arrived in Auckland on Sunday by tho Malieno, and will tour the Dominion. .Mrs. Godley returned to Wellington from tho south yesterday. Mrs. and the Misses Uathbons (Hu.tt) have returned from their visit to Auckland nnd Rotorua, Miss Mario Fix, who successfully competed in the Christchurch Competitions, returned home by the Mararoa yesterday.

Among the ladies taking part, in the reading wore: Miss Purdom, who took llio part of Viola, and woro a gown of black velvet relieved with cream lace; Miss Corliss (Olivia), in whito cimrmeuse with net overdress embroidered with silver bugles and finished with silver fringe; Miss Gould (an attendant), gown of whito silk crepe with silk fringe; Miss Putnam (Maria), biscuit coloured frock of net and lace with coral red sash, raid belt. Miss Havdinge-Maltby, who read tho stage directions, wore a gown of comllowcr bine embroidered silk with an overdress of black Chantilly luce sprayed with roses, mounted upon cedar greeii ninon. Mrs. Natnsch plaved the accompaniments of tho songs sung by Mr. Loo. Bitckcrklgc, also tho incidental music.
A Farewell Tea. Yesterday afternoon a farewell tea was given by Mrs. Korslako at her homo for Mrs. A. Yeitcli, who with her family is leaving for Australia. Occasion was taken to present Mrs. Veitcli with a handsome travelling rug as a token of the regard felt for her by many of her Wellington friends. Mrs. Korslnke wore a gown of soft black silk and Mrs-. Veitcli was in a srby costume with grey furs aud a linf with black and white plumes. Mrs. Veitch intends to spend tho winter in Queensland.
