9 MR. D. E. GUTHRIE AT OHUTU. (By TelesTapli,—flpcoial Correspondent.) Feilding, April 23. Mr. P. IT. Guthrie, M.P., gave a prosessional address at Ohutu oil Monday night in tho schoolhouse. There was ft good attendunco of settlers, Mr. M'Carten presiding. . . ; ■ During his address -Mr. Guthrio dealt with tho political questions that are at present of deepest interest to tho community, and replied to criticism lately levelled at Uio present Administration bv 601110 of tho Opposition papers, especially oil tho question of finauco and land administration. Oil tho latter matter he spoke at considerable lengfh, and proved that, as far as land aggregation was concerned, tho present Government was lil< no way responsible for what had taken place, 110 ridiculed soiuo of tho extravagant statements that had been mado, and read reixirts from the Lands Department demolishing assertions recently published. At tho closo of tho address some questions on local matters were asked and anOT On tho motion of Mr. Campbell, Mr. Guthrio received a heariv vote of thank* for his able and comprehensive nadress.
