ANNUAL REPORT. (By Telegraph.—Prws. AesooUtlon.) Chrlstchurch, April 23. Tho annual report of tho. mcdicnl superintendent of tho 'hospital was presented nt a mpcliup of U>c Hospital mid Charilablo Aid Board held to-day. ilia report was for tlio year eudiiig March 31, 1013. Dr. Scott stated inter alia that tlio past year lias been a busy one. With 215 availablo beds, tlio total number of inpatients was 2358, an increase of 212 over last year's total. Tlio average daily number of patients in tho hospital was 167, with an average time of stay in the hospital of 20.il days per patient. This latter figure was not high when ono takes into consideration tho fact that chronic consumptive patients nre included. A majority of these have been ill hospital during tlio'whole of the year, iho norccntage of mortality on tho total milliner of in-patients was 0£ per cent., or, deducting the number of deaths occurring within 24 hours after admission, 7} per cent. Many of the deaths were those of people of advanced age. One thousand live hundred and twenty-seven operations wero performed during the year—an avern.ce of over S!» «. week. Tlierc had been 2320 out-patients treated, with n total of 1t,579 attendances. During the year two now Departments were opened—pathological and dental—and each was giving ample proof of its usefulness to tho hospital and district,,
