The Government has, ho says, repeatedly asked Dr. I'ricdmann for a supply, hut tho only answer has licen lliiit he is not prepared to grunt tho request. Mr. Howers added: "I don't think there is any hope of a euro so far us Dr. I'riedmtvnn is concerned. I make this sluleuieut in tho inl.erest of suffering humanity. It is cruel (o buoy thorn up with what I call false hopes—by delaying, and perhaps making a euro impo'ssiblo. I cannot mention names, and tho doctors won't talk, but men in Sydney who have studied in Germany know. Dr. Friodinaun. They tell mo that tho story of a serum being obtained from turtles is not new, but had been talked about in leading medical circles iu Europo for several years, and has become almost to be regarded as a joke. But it in a hideously 1 cruel joke, if, as 1 say, there is nothing behind it but mere sensational talk." . Mr. I'lowcrs commented on Dr. Friedman ti leaving Germany, tho homo of science, where ho could have obtained plenty of encouragement, and going to America, the laud of- quacks.
