EX-DETECTIVE MILLER.
SENT BACK TO ROTO ROA. (By Tc!;sraph.-rmß Association.) Auckland, April 17. John. Paton Miller, ex-detective, concerning whose committal to Roto Roa Island in September last there has been some agitation for rehearing his case, was taken into polico custody to-day, to bo returned to Roto Roa for not having compiled with the terms of his probation. The condition of his release was that lie take out a prohibition order against himself for twelTO months, and not to be convicted for any breach of tho order during the period. MilleiJ states ho declined because he is not a drunkard, and has never been charged or convicted for drunkenness, and bocause the application for rehearing ' tho charge of habitual drunkenness was based on the ground of others stating that he was a man of intemperate habits. On appeal to the Minister ho was warned that he must return to the island or the license liberating him would bo revoked, and, declining to do so, the polico wero compelled to take action.'
