STATEMENT BY HON. H. D. BELH

Tho Hon. H, D. Bell (Acting-Minister for Marine) informed a Dominion roporter yesterday that lie liad intended to mako a statement on tho subject of the Amokura inquiry at the time when he received tlio report, but had now 'decided to hold over Oiis statement until tho departure of the battleship New Zealand from Wellington, when ho would hand it to the press for publication. Tho Minister added that ho might say in advance tliat tho charges of cruelty and of undue severity of punishment had been completely disproved.
