HOCKEY.

—: PROPOSED ENGLISH TEIP HERE. (By Telegraph— Prew Association.) Christchurch, April 13. The proposal-to--bring an English club team on lour in New Zealand was put before tho president of the Hockey Association (Sir. E. Nordon) yesterday. He remarked that such a proposal would not be countenanced by tho New Zealand Association for tho reason that tho governing body of New Zealand had al- [ ways reserved to itself the right to control any touring visitors from England or any other country ._ ■ Not so very long ago Auckland was in treaty with a. team from Yorkshire, and the association had to step 'ill and inform the promoters that they could not proceed unless the visit was first considered by the association, under whose auspices the'team would have to tour. Th© New Zealand Association (Ml'. Nordon added) would do everything to promote visits that wero for the benefit of hockey, but so far that body had not been approached concerning tho present proposal.
