RAILWAYMEN'S GRIEVANCES.

'A meeting of the Canterbury Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants held to-day adopted a resolution ehlering an emphatic protest against the action of the Government in closiiitr the avenue of promotion from tho second to the first divisions and urging the Government to abolish the division barrier, thereby giving all the men an »<nial opportunity for promotion. It was decided to send a copy of the resolution to tho Minister for Railways through the Execu-' live Council of the Society.
