POLICE LIST. ' (Before Mr, W. G. Riddell, S.M.) THE JEWELLERY AND A SUSPECT. Thomas Darrooh was brought before tho Magistrate's Court yesterday, charged with having received from Glyn Ivor Hazell about .£SO worth of jewellery, which he was well awaro had been stolen. Chief-Detective Broberg stated that Darroch had just been brought up from Dunedin. where he was arrested. The prosecution asked for a remand till Wednesday, April IG, and this was granted. Hazell was beforo tho Court a few days ago on charges of tho theft of largje quantities of jewellery from Levin and Masterton, and he, too, is to appear in connection with this charge oil remand on Wednesday. BAILEE AND FfJR-NITUIiE. Sarah Myers was chargod with having fraudulently converted to her own use J615 lis. worth of furniture and effects, of which she was the bailee. It was said that the furnituro belonged to George Goldsmith, and that the case was a Syaney one. The Court ordered the defendant to bo sent back to New South Wales in the custody of Senior Constable Hickey, who had come over for her. Bail (iBlOO) was allowed. Tho Court at first refused bail, but Mr. P. W. Jackson (defendant's counsel) persisted in his request on the ground that his client was "entitled to it." SiTOCK AT LARGE. As tho persons responsible for stock which were found wandering, Walter Duncan was fined 55., witli costs_ 135.; George Robertson, ss. and lis.; William Rice, ss. and lis.; William Tait; ss. and £1 25.; John Telford, 55.-and lis.; and' James Craig, ss. and lis. , ; OTHER CASES. ■ Carl P. Johnson was fined £2, with costs 135., for having played "tivo-up" on April 5. Johnson did not appear, and the police stated that ho had admitted the offence. For having failed to attend tho Trentham military training camp on February 11, the following were fined £2, with costs:—Richard Henry BonasicTi, Michael Joseph Dee, R. Diehl, Albert Edward Bare, John Albert Hagan, Alfred Arthur Howard, Henry Martin, and Arthur H. Sargent. Oliver N. Mercer was fined .£l. Alice Pointon was fined .£2, with costs 75., for having used obscene language from her house in Tory Stroet. John Ballingham pleaded not guilty to s charge of his having taken a dog aboard a Tailwdy carriage. He was convicted and ordered to pay Court costs 95., and witness's expenses Bs, • Charles Bailey was fined 55., with costs 75., for having left a vehicle unattended in Vivian Street. ■ For insobriety, Henry Swanson was fined XI and prohibited.
