AFFILIATED REGIMENTS

Major A, A. Corrigan, of tho sth (Welliugton) Kcgiment, has roccived the following letter from Lieut.-Colonel Broughton. of the York nnd Lancaster Regiment, to which tho stli Regiment is linked. The letter is dated February _G —"lt was. a real pleasure when wo heard that his Majesty the King had decidcd that your regiment was to ho allied to ours; and I am sure .that wo shall all. be anxious to mako tho alliance as. real as jiossiblo. Wo have always bden interested in New Zealand on account 'of tho long stay in the colony Of our Ist Battalion (tho old Gsth Regiment). It will bo difficult, owing to tho distance, for our two corps to meet very often—at any rate in peace time; but I am now in command of. our 3rd or Kescrvo Battalion (having begun my career in tho 65th). We train for a month in tho summer, and if any of your officers should happen to bo in England in June, I should be very glad if they could arrange to bo attached to us from 2nd June for 27 days. Wo ard to train at Richmond, in tho north of Yorkshire. Wo should be certain of requiring somo subalterns, and I do not think thero should 1)0 any difficulty in arranging tho matter, if your young officers cared to mako tho applications. Tho expenses of messing, ctc., would bo quite covered by tho pay. I also happen to bo editor of our regimental paper, 'Tho Whito Rose.' I shall bo clad if someono in your regiment will send us an article (monthly, if convenient) about yourselves, which I should publish in tho paper. Wo should like to, know all about you, your history, and your (present doings; and perhaps, later on, somo of you might like to become annual subscribers to the paper." Major Corrigan also received another letter expressing similar statements, and expressing a hope that if any. officers of tho Dth Regiment aro in' England at tho time of tho regiment's annual dinner, which is held at Sheffield, thoy will bo welcome.
