9 . . THE HOTEL TARIFFS. (By TelegTaph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, April 6. , Three of tho proprietors of the leading accommodation hotels in Auckland were soen by a "Star" representative relative to the feeling which prevails in regard to the question of hotel charges. In > loach caso an assurance , was given that thero was no intention to increase tho tariff at Exhibition time. It was stated; however, that because of the increasing price of nearly all products and commodities there would bo a slight rise in hotel tariffs forthwith. This alteration in tho scale of charges, however, it was emphasised, had no connection with tlio Exhibition, and was ■ necessary only because of the increased price of foodstuffs. Tho Auckland hoteikeepers, at a-meet-ing last night, discussed a request made by the Exhibition Committee with regard to the desirability of making known what accommodation will bo availablo at Exhibition time, aud tho prices that would be charged. Negotiations aro to be opened with North Canterbury for a coml>incd court. - • A HAWKE'S BAY COURT. Napier, April 4. A public meeting to-night supported the proposal to have a Hawlce's Bay court at the Auckland Exhibition, and an executive committee was appointed to get into touch with'the various towns in tho district and the manufacturers likely to bo interested.
