-——« , FBOM AWANUI TO HONOLULU. : i It lias teen noted that most of tlio steamers fitted with wireless telegraphy which have arrived here during tlio past week' liavo reported successful communications over big distances, indicating that the'atmospheric conditions have been exceedingly favourable to operations. It is now recorded that excellent results are being achieved at the new . high-power station at Awanui (North of Auckland), ' which is undergoing a series of tests extending over four months. Mr. Hcinhard (representative • of tho Australian Wireless Company) received a cable lhessage yesterday to the following effect:—"(Australian) wireless cablo station, Honolulu, heard us nightly, also steamers between Honolulu and Yokohama." ' . "This is very good indeed," said Mr. Reinhard, "when you consider that Honolulu is 3500 miles) away, and some of tlio steamers mentioned might havo been ! 4000 miles away from New Zealand." : Mr. Reinhard leaves for the south to- - day to superintend-tho fitting up of the machinery in connection with tho second high-power station at the Bluff. Tho company has had a staff of fifteen men at work there for some time, and the masts and counterpoise havo already been erected.
