It is understood that Mr. K. Mothes, of I'etone, will be a candidate for a seat on tho Wellington Harbour Board. Albert Trott, the well-known cricketer, who acted as coach in ItawWs Bay somo years ngo, has boon seriously ill in England; but at latest advico was recovering. He had been suffering from gastritis, but lie was not expected to have to remain at St. Mary's Hospital more than two or three woeks, and there is no reason to think that ho will not bo able to undertake his duties as umpire in firstclass cricket during tho forthcoming season. Mr. J. Cowan, formerly n journalist in Wellington and 'the Wairarapa, and more recently "Truth" representative in Christchurch, died in the southern city yesterday afternoon. Ho had been in poor health for so-rna considerable time past.
