FAUMEES' UNION OPINION. "The announcement made by the Prime , Minister at" Ashburton that ho contemplates establishing a Board of Agriculture for the-whole of New Zealand is welcome news to the Farmers' Union/' remarked Mr. E. ,C. For many years past, added Mr. Jack, the union had advocated the severance of the Agricultural Department from political -control. In . the past the policy of the Department he»l bfen subject to the personal, .whims of the, Minister of t.ho day, and .there was no doubt that the important' work of thoTDepartment had teen seriously hindered by the numerous changes of policy that had taken place (luring the post, few ■ years. With tho proposed beard, everything should make for continuity of policy.
