Some of the essays dealt with the subject semihuinorously, wliich, in my opinion, put them entirely out of consideration j others indulged too much in "fine writing," while others, tho matters of which was good, wero spoilt by a loose and rambling 6tyle. After full consideration, I placo the winners as follow:— 1. Cassandra. 2. Poneke. 3. Victoria. The last-named adds to tho signature "aged 13 years 9 months," and "tho essay is a very fine effort for a cliild of that age." The prize essay appears in our Woman's l'age.
