The five Suffragettes concerned in the demonstration yesterday in throwing petitions into the lloyal coacih during the procession to tho opening of Parliament, have been sentenced to three weeks' imprisonment', in default of finding sureties to keep the pcace. Two others were sentenced to a month's imprisonment, in default of paying a fine for smashing windows at the Homo Office as a protest against yesterday's arrests. There has been a groat stream of vehicles delivering at tho Suffragette headquarters a variety of goods, from coal to gingerbeer. It was a hoax, but proved of greater annoyance to tradesmen than to the Suffragettes. : UPROARIOUS SCENES. (Rec. March 13, 0.20 a.m.) London, March 12. The Suffragettes have, victimised a large number of public and professional men throughout the country by sending them a leaflet in an envelope containing a halfpenny, oij which tho Post Office surtaxed tho recipient with sixpence for receiving an unregistered letter containing coin. There- were uproarious scenes at Miss Kinney's meeting at Nottingham. Fireworks and detonators were discharged, and banners were destroyed and windows smashed.
