Tho Women's Christian Temperance Union Convention to-day adopted resolutions protesting against packet licenses being issued for coastal and river steamers; against the transmission of betting matter by the post and telegraph services; urging that engine-drivers, pilots, and signalmen should abstain I'rom intoxicants; expressing sympathy with (he relatives of Captain Scott and his comrades; commending the action of Juds'f Edwards in ordering offenders against, women and children to be flogged; ami urging tho amendment of the .law to enable those guilty of criminal assaults to bo similarly dealt with. The union also passed a resolution congratulating the Presidents in the American States "'which have c.lrricd manhood suffrage. Tho Kcv. J. Dawson (secretary of tha New Zealand Alliance) addressed']lie convention oa tho progress of the Prohibition campaign.
This evening tlio convention was addressed by a number of members on good citizenship.
