Yesterday an important event in tho development of the Hawke's Bay fruit industry occurred, when the first of a series of shipments of apples for. South America was railed from the Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Company, Limited, of Hastings. Last year tho company mado an experimental shipment, but this year are forwarding regular consignments from now until the end of June.- The fruit is of a particularly high quality, being composed of Jonathans and Rennetto du Canada. Tho fruit leaves Wellington by the s.s. Remucra on March G, and the next shipment will follow in fourteen days' time.
