HARASSING REGULATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Prces Association.) Auckland; March 8. A number of matters of interest to coastal,.shipping..wcivq placed before tho Minister for. Marino by Captain Stentiford (secretary of the Auckland Coastal Masters' Association) this morning. Captain Stentiford pointed out that of. 150 members in tho association about forty were waster-ownors ot small vessels. Recently, 'owing, to harassing .regulations, six of the best scows of the local fleet had been sold in Australia, while several others had been relegated to the position of hulks. Tho shallow draught scow had been the means of opening up all.of the small ports with bar harbours from East Cape to North Capo, yet instead of fostering such a fleet tho Government had saddled the vessels, with tho same regulations as applied to steamers. A number of complaints were explained in detail. . • Mr. Fisher,'in reply, stated that the matters placed t before him would bo duly considered with thoso relating to coastal shipping, which were brought under his notico last week.
