NEW CHRISTIAN HELLEMAN,OF SYHNEY. - At the weekly practice of] the Royal •Wellington Choral. Sooiety Hst i evening, Mr. R. T. Caaldow, chairman'! of the committee, announced that Mr. -Christian Helleman, A.R.C.M. (London), conductor of tho Sydney Symphony Orchestra, had been appointed.conductor of;the society, vioo Mr. Mnughan Barnctt,;! who leaves Wellington for Auckland aftilr the "Carmen" concert on April 22, to'tako up his duties as Municipal Organist in tho northern city. ' Mr. Helleman, who is 40 years of age, and married, is also honorary accompanist and deputy-conductor of the Sydney Philharmonic'• Society, organist and choirmaster of tho Petersham Congregational Church in Sydney, and'conductor of the Enmore Choral Society, Ho was also "runner-up" for the appoint mont of City Organist in Sydney (Mr. Ernest Truman was appointed) and it i« also understood, that he', is ah applicant for tho position of City Organist at Wellington. .
