DAIRY FARM COMPETITION.

: SUGGESTIONS BY MR. CUDDIE. .; a letter,,from thoi Stratford A. and 1\ Association regarding its model dairy-farm competition, Mr. D. Cuddie, Chief Dairy Commissioner, stated that' his Division would bo glad to do what could be done to assist the society in. the judging of the competition .instituted by tho association. Ho would suggest, however, that the man appointed by tho dairy, division should', conlinc himself to tho judging of that'part of tho .'competition which was connected with dairying proper, although he could, of course, assist any other judge who might bo a specialist in other'branches of the competition. It 'seemed to Mr. Cuddio that the classifica-tion-of .'these'farms according to merit' would give greater satisfaction lo tho entrants if' tho asiociation appointed, say, threo judges. One of these could be a progressive former from another district, another an officer, of the live stock division of:tho Agricultural Department,.and the third an officer of the dairy division;, While all three would .work,in conjunc-i tion, each oho could pay.special attention' to, what was connected with his own special line, the farmer-judge taking part in 'the whole of the'work. This plan was followed in a competition held some timo' ago in tho llannwatu district, and the arrangement seemed to give satisfaction to tho competitors as well.as to the so-; ciety. On that occasion Mr.- Keakes, director of tho live stock .division, Mr. Tato (of Waitara), and Mr. Cuddio were the judges. ■'.'.'•• ' The Stratford Association has adopted the'suggestions contained in tho letter, and decided to judge tho competition during the second week in April. •
