Thcro was, therefore, a decrcaso for last month of 4933 ozs., valued at jei9,lG4; Silver exported duriiuj January, ; 1913, imoutitbd'to' 133,385 ozs':, r valucd at iH3,674, as against 9164 ozs. in January, 1912, valued at ,£940, an increase for last month of 123,921 ozs., .valued at .£12,728. . ; The great, discrepancy in the' silver export for last month and that of-January, 1912, is considered \to bo due merely to the fact that the period covered by tho return is so short that fluctuations " arc bound to appear. Comparing the export for December last with that for December, 1911, the position is the opposite of that disclosed in the latest teturn.
