SCORES & NOTES. ■ TRENTHAM AND ELSEWHERE. | Club rifle shooting competitions ; were car- , ried on at Trentham and elsewhere last . Saturday. Tho climatic conditions for ■ shooting were not very good, tho strong ' wind making accuracy difficult and the shooting less good than usual. Tho following oro the club particulars end scores: KARORI RIFLE CLUB. On Saturday afternoon the ICarori Club fired the sewmd ma'tch of its second competition series for trophies donated by Messrs. L. Blundell, Owen Daley, \V. J. Blundell, W. Judd, and H. Coker. Conditions: Ten shots at 800 and 1000 yards. A strong north-west wind blowing straight down the range made shooting very difficult, and as a result the scoring was very low. There wero no fewer than 10 unsuccessful challenges at the two ranges. The highest scores wero put On by Rifleman G. Tinney (81) and President H. Marshall (80). The former's scoro of 43 at 1000 yards included no fewer , than 8 "bulls" —a first rate performance considering the difficulties which had to be overcome. As the result of the day's shooting, President Marshall gains the leading position in the club's championship aggregate. Rifleman Faulkner, who held the position from tho commencement of the season, encountered many difficulties at the 1000 yards range, on baturday. afternoon, only three of his ten. shots hiding the target.'
