' v A SUCCESSFUL CORPS. 'St. Anne's Senior Cadets returned homo by tho Maori on Wednesday from Christckuroh, where they 'have been the guests of tho Right Rov. Dr. Grimes sinco' tho conclusion of the military tournament. Tho company did'excellently in each Qf the events for which they entered, 1 being placed in each of them. In tho rifle: exercises, for which fifty-two teams entered, St. Anne's eCcurod first plaoe, scoring ths fine total of 981 poinW'out of a pdssiblfl" 100. In tho squad drill, fof which, there wero thirty-four entries, St. Anne's tied' with several othor teams for first place ( and <in tho final camo, fifth—2l points behind the winners. In the route-marching championship (which the Wellington boys had held for two years). St. Anne's went down'to a team from Christ's College," securing fifth place.' ■..■': '•■■'•.;' By their being placed in tho foregoing events, St. Anne's*have tied with,three; other teams for tho 6enior cadet championship cup of New Zealand. Owing, however, to . the limited time,; the final for this event could not be decided. , ' During their stay in ChristcliurcK,, the oompany acted as' a guard;of honour at. a military mass held in , v the/Catholic Cathedral. Bishop Grimes,- preaching on that occasion,, said that the St. Anno s, oadets had the honour of being the first Catholic company to carry out such a function in tho Cathedral.
