Imagination was withdrawn from the Rus9?ll Handi'iap, and reserved for tho big raco. This Tesulted in Kiiu being made a strong favourite. The St^ Ambrose gelding got away from tho barrier much better than on. the first day, and onco. ho got to the front was not afterwards headed. Full Rate finished well, and appears to retain his pace, but is still very bad nt the barrier. British Maid did not shape as well as her first day's form, suggested she would. ' ' No performer of anv note was opposed to Distinction in the Tawalia Hack Handicap, and tho public hnd no hesitation in making Mr, Bidwill's horsa a warm favourite, in spite of the big weight ho had to carry. He won nicely nt the finish, although he had to run tho seven furlongs in smart tlmo to beat Alofa, All the .aoccptors went to tho post foi

the Tauhorinikau Handicap, for which Imagination was made a very warm favourite, carrying nearly half the money on the machine. A good start was effected in front of the stand, and Imagination immediately set out to mako licr own running. Lowo rodo a confident raco in front of the field, and when the straight was reached his mount had plenty in reserve to stall off a determined challenge from Merrivonia, who. .easily beat tho remainder of tho field. Imagination has now' won four races in her lost fivo starts, and her victory yesterday was a convincing one. • She will probably register still bettor performances before the season closes. . \

Of the four starters in the Wharepapn Hack Welter, St. Bees and Papamarama wero solidly supported, but a surprise was in store for. backers, as the littlefancied Regained won from end to end, and was increasing her lead when tho winning post was .reached.

A : bod start spoiled tho runaing of the Euamahanga Hack Handicap,? the horses forming into : something like-Indian ale as soon, as the barrier was released. Tho finish resolved itself into a struggle between War Queen and Martlet, the former carrying too many funs over tho last furlong. Some bumping took placo at the start, and during tho Tunning of the race. The. winner was one of the sufferers, and carried marks of contact \tith tho rails.

The Highden' representative, Gerberga, opened favourite in the Juvenile Handicap, but Secret Link carried most money when the maohino closed down. Another (surprise was in Btore for backers, for Listen got away smartly, and, after shaking off Otter, lasted- long enough to win half a length from Seoret Link, who finished very fast. The last-named lost some lengths at the start, but put in a phenomenal run in tho straight, and was unfortunate in.,being beaten.• Gerberga did not make as good a showing as on the first day. In a moderate field Sir Saracen was mad© ; favourite for the Pirinoa Hack Handicap, and he won nicely, while another favourite in Peroneal scored in the concluding event.

H. Lowo rode five winners on the two days of tho meeting, and E. Berry and W. Bell each had four winning mounts. '
