SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

The Paparangi Sheep Dog Trial Club held their inaugural meeting on Fr:day and it proved very successful. li.eal weather conditions prevailed, while tlio attendance was ■ good. Settlers of the district, which is situated some 2G mii.es from Wangahui, and inland ircm. Ivaiiwi, attended in force, and trek much interest in the proceedings. The results were as under:— I,mg hfod.-For this »vcnt there were 11 entries, the competition being the br-st. of the series. Points counted for heading, bringing back, ringing, penning, s-ivle.' and command. Only three do«s i-i'aun-cl to.pen their shr-.-p in the time limit' of 15 minutes, but Ihe winner. Mr. W. Dunbar's "Flo" re rot of she drawing -letter form in all the other points. Mr. R, Guthrie's "Royal" and "Tin" filled the second and .third places (both penning the.sheep), and Mr. C. G. Ross's "Wag" was fourth. Settlers''event—ln this event the shesp had to bo collected from the top of a rise about 500 yards distant, driven through a ring, a. ret of hurdle?, and two rets of flags placed upon, tin hillside. For this there were nine entries, but only three completed in thn time limit of 12 minutes. Mr. Monro "Port" w,i,= fiv--t, Mr. S. Anw's "Tip" r.-cond, and Mr. John Brncc's "Dan" third.
