OTAKI NOTES.
The funeral of the late Mr. James Muir, who died at Mnnakau on.Sunday, took place yesterday. Many floral tributes were sent. The service was conducted by'the Rev. Cecil ,T. Smith. Farmers aro taking full advantage 'of ihe fine weather, and hay-making is in full swing. Several farmers are also turning their attention to ensilage. On Monday evening Mr. .T. Davison, who has acted as secretary of the Horowhenua Hockey Association was presented by members of that body with an engraved sovereign-case. Mr. Harold Cockrell made the presentation, referring highly to Mr. Davison's efforts for tho benefit of sport. Mcssik L. Kilniister. and H. A/flowell also added their testiMr. C. Lindsay, who has decided to take up residence in Wellington, was farewelled on Monday evening by a number of Mnnakau friends, and made tho recipient of a presHifcitiun.
