A MELBOURNE COMMOTION,
MAN BOLTS THROUGH' STREETS CLAD IN SINGLET/ At Footscrny, Melbourne, a fewnights ago, a patient in a private hospital became obsessed with the idea that his internal organs were on fire, and that it. was necessary that he should jump into the SaUvatev River,'some distance away. Ho accordingly bolted out of the' institution, clad only in a singlet, half of which was torn off by a nurse, who vainly endeavoured to restrain tho man from shouting out, "Fire! Fire!"
' The man caused a groat commotion as ho bounded through well-lighted streets in practically a nude state. Policemen and others ran after tho man, but he had far too much pace, and drew a long way ahead. Tho distance proved beyond him, and he was tired before the river was reached, and his pursuers came up with him. • '
Ho was full of fight, however, and promptly knocked down the first three ov four who attempted to capture 'him. He was eventually secured, and carried back to the institution, whore ho had to bo strapped down.
