A meeting, presided over by the Mayor
(Mr. E.' Goodbehcre), was' held in the Oddfellows' Hall to launch the fete for. next year. The Mayor referred to the success of last season's fete, which resulted in a net profit of .£235, and said that the beautifying of the lake plot on the South Street reserve was something of which the town could be proud. ■ It •was decided to hold a fete on February 2G. Messrs. A. E. Patterson and E. A. Garliokwere appointed joint secretaries.
On'Mondar evening the managers of St. Paul's Presbyterian • Church considered a sketch pCnn for a new manse, submitted by Mr.. Eobjn Hood. It shows a commodious and convenient residence, and ono not without architectural beauty. A meeting of the congregation is to be held on Friday evening to deal with the financial side of the proposition.
For last month's cream supply the Cheltenham. Dairy Co. paid out at tho rate of Is. per lb. The total sum distributed to suppliers was J22500. Last month the sum paid out was .£I9OO.
