WIFE'S GRIM CHOICE.
HUSBAND SHOT TO SAVE A FATHER. A Paris jury is confronted with the problem whether a wife is justified in killing her husband to save her father's life.
On. Sunday last, (says the "Daily Mail" of November 7), 11. Andre Reinhardt, son of a dealer in precious stones, and his wife entertained Mine. Reinhardt's father at luncheon at their flat in the Ruo Jlurillo, overlooking the Pare Monceau. Over the coffee the-two men discussed the war. in the Balkans,'. They violently disagreed as to the readiness of tho French army in the event of a European war.
In a paroxysm of rage the younger man seized his father-in-law by tho throat and threw him to the ground. Then, snatching a Persian dagger from tho wall, he was about to strike when Mine. Reinhardt, seeing her father's danger, rushed to a drawer and pulling out a revolver fired twice at her husband. Tho husband' fell unconscious over his father-in-law. Mmo. Reinhardt, when, she realised her act, ran to the window and shouted "Help, helpl I have killed my husband."
Before tho neighbours arrived, however, M. Reinhardt had regained consciousness, and, wishing to avoid a family scandal, explained to them that in o moment of folly ho had attempted to commit suicide. He made the same statement to tho doctors of the nursing home. Ho appeared to be making 'an excellent recovery until Tuesday, when he collapsed and died whilo writing to his wife,
On learning of her husband's death Mme. Reinhardt drove to the Pala's do Justice, confessed the part she had played and gave herself up. '
