A train more than half a milo long would bo necessary to carry tho record shipment of. butler that is being made from Auckland to Kuglnnd and Camilla l this week. It comprises SO,UCO boxes, forming the fortnightly shipment. On Friday, ten thousand boxes will bo shipped by the Mamma to Canada, mid on Satur-, day tho Corinna will sail from Onehuiiga with 20,0(10 boxes, and 450 crates of cheese, for transhipment to tho lonic at Wellington, to bo delivered in London. The Mokoia will take 100 crates of cheeso on Saturday for transhipment at Wellington into tho Otaki, by which steamer it will bo carried to Bristol.

This fortnight's export of butter establishes a new record, eclipsing tho previous largest, which, comprised 31,0% boxes, and formed tho last shipment in November. The record shipment of last season"was 25,621 boxes of butter. The shipments during the present season (from September fl to December 20) have reached a total of 180,231 boxes, as compared with 139,091 boxes during the period, from September 1G to December 23 last year. This is an increaso of -10,2'K1 boxes, or equivalent to 20 per cent. RABBITS & RESENTMENT. Wairoa, December 17. At last meeting of the County Council the East Coast Rabbit Board reported that Mr. Mullaly, Wairoa Inspector of Noxious Weeds, had stated that two men and an inspector could rabbit tho whole of the Wafroa- district. CHILD KILLED IN THE STREET. Christchurch, December 17. A child named Alexander Pringlo Campbell, four years of age, was killed by a tranioar in Lower High Street. The child was seen to cross the street, and a car coming towards the city from Woolston struck him, knocked him down, and passed over his' body.
