He was thirty years in the service of the bank, and was implicitly trusted. After advancing money on securities ho abstracted the latter, and obtained personal loans thereon from other banks. Over two hundred firms, and wealthy persons, have been partially or wholly ruined. Two • female cashiers who were also arrested have confessed that they were awaio of Idman's irregularities.

Idman was manager of the Foereninga Bank at Holsingfors. The bank lost .£200,000, apart from frauds in private accounts. Idman's total defalcations aro stated to bo .£600,000.
