LOVERS' TRAGIC QUARREL.
REVOLVER SHOTS EXCHANGED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Conyrißkt Paris, December 16. Walter Mumm, a member of a champagne firm, was shot in the lung by Mrs. Barnes, a wealthy American. The tragedy, it is stated, was the outcome of a loveTs' quarrel. Other accounts state that Mumm first fired two shots, wounding Mrs. Barnes seriously, whereupon she fired. Mumm's wound is not dangerous. .(Rec. December 16, 9.55 p.m.) Paris, December 16. Mumm denies that he shot Mrs. Barnes. The latter was separated from her husband. Mumm's family objected to the intimacy and influenced the son to break off the affair. Mumm, recognising tho incvitableness of the parting, informed Mrs. Barnes, whereupon she picked up a revolver and fired. The whereabouts of Mrs. Barnes is a mystery. It is reported that she fled to England.
