A signalman employed by the Midland Railway named George Workman, sixtyfour years old, was found dead recently in his sigiial-box at Barton Hill, a busy approach to Bristol. Another signalman tried to call him up on the telephone to ask if tho line woro clear, but could get no reply, and went to make inquiries, when he found Workman lying dead 111 the box. At the inquest a juror asked if death in such circumstances did not entail a great risk to the travelling public. A repressntativc of the railway company replied that no accident could have occurred, as the signals were at danger. A verdict "Was returned that death was due to $yncope.
