CATTLE TICK.

• ' ' ' O AMERICAN METHODS OF TREAT- . ■ MENT. By Taleerauli—Preßs Aesoolatlon<-Oopyrieht Sydney, November 30. The report of tho Royal Commissioner, who investigated the measures taken for tie suppression of cattle tick in the United States, has been laid on. tho table, in the Legislative Assembly. The almost oomplete absence of straying, stock on roads and in public plaoes, eays the report, constitutes a very material factor in assisting in the eradication of the tick. In the Eastern States animals are dipped every ten or fourteen days, in the Southern and Central States overy eighteen, twenty-one, or thirty days. Since 1006, of 1G7.714 square miles nearly a quarter of the quarantined area was freed from tick. When the number of cattle relative to area permits, stnTvation of the seed of the larvae of ticks by a rotation method of resting postures gives very quick and reliable results. The opinion ig expressed that cross breeding for immunity from tick fever cannot be carried out, although Brahmin crosses have proved remarkably resistant to tick. The medicament used in vats is an arsenical preparation similar in proportion to that used in New South Wales. Numerous recommendations ivTe mado by the Commissioner regarding quarantine, dipping, inspection of stock, - and the erecI tion of vats.
