HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
' At a special meeting of the Hutt County Council, held yesterday, Councillor W. Gallaway was elected chairman for the ensuing twelve months. . \ Mr. Gallaway thanked members for the honour, and stated, that ho intended going over the whole of the country in order. to get an idea of the requirements of' the people.
The finance committee comprises all the members of the council, and Councillor Howe remarked that he would like to see councillors take, more interest in the framing of the balance-sheet. He considered that there was not enough time devoted to the estimates.
