On Saturday morning she had seen defendant in a tramcar in which she was travelling. She had approached him, and ho had jumped off the car.. She had chased him, caught him, and taken him to the police station. . Other evidence was to the effect that, between the Friday and the . Saturday, .Ford had shaved,his moustache off, had deposited his luggage at the railway.sta : tion, and had taken out a train ticket for Palmerston North. , ■ His Worship said that, though the case was suspicious, he did not think a jury would convict Ford on the charge.
