MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS.
NO STOP AT LEVIN. Replying, in tha Houso of Represents* tives yesterday, to a suggestion by Mr. J. Robertson, M.P., that ho should mako Lovin a stopping plaoo for tho Main Trunk express, tho Hon. W. H. Homes (Minister for Railways) said: Lovin is already served by five passenger trains por day, oach way. Tho Auckland-Wel-lington express trains are put on mainly for tho convenience of long-distanoo passengers, and while I am at all times do. sirous of affording reasonable facilities to all olasses of the community, I regret that I cannot authorise the inclusion cf Levin as a stopping place for tho Auck-land-Wellington express trains. Where a long-distance journey lias to bo made it is essential that tho number of 6topping places should bo restricted as mucn al possible.
