The Crown Lands Commissioner to-day offered lenses of educational endowments on 21 years' leaso with perpetual right of renewal at revaluation, 'i'ho. sections are immediately opposite the railway and aro unimproved. Tho bidding for the section opposite the station was very brisk and at i'-iO the commissioner received a £<) bid upon which ho instantly closed. One of (fife bidders called out: "Why don't you look in this direction? There were bids here." . Afterwards ho approached tho commissioner's table and said something unheard by the public. Tho commissioner followed the bidder to his sent, and said heatedly: "You said ] was squared. You must withdrawthat." The other replied: "I will not withdraw. I told you it was my bid and you laughed at me." The commissioner ordered the man to leave tho building, but the latter refused.
