SHIPOWNERS' FEDERATION.
THE ANNUAL MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, October 25. The unrest in Labour circles was referred to by Mr. D. Ford, chairman of the New Zealand Shipowners' Federation, at the ammol mooting to-day. Mr. Ford said that tho secession of many onions from the Arbitration Act, and their enrolment under the Federation of labour, had been tlio means of frequent interruptions to business. He advocated n strong cohesion on tho part of tho Shipowners' Federation. Feeling all over tlio country: was against (ho Labour Fv.loration, nnd concerted action would eventually defeat it. The following resolution was also carvied:—"That the Shipowners' Federation make strong representation to tho Minister for Marino, urging: the necessity for tlio amendment of some of tho shipping regulation;, which arc found not only arbitrary and oppressive, but are seriously injuring the successful working of vessel's of various classes running ill tlio' coastal and intercolonial trade's. Also to nrrango a .system of classification of coastal rossols bv which existing regulations, found to bo oppressive, may bo either nmended or struck out, and existing anomalies removed."
