ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE
MOKE ACCOMMODATION WANTED. The need for additional accommodation nt St. John's College, Tamaki. was brought before tho Auckland Auglicau Synod by Bishop Crosslcy on Tuesday. He explained that there are at present 20 students at the college, mid that 10 others are waiting to 1)» admitted next year. Tor these latter, however, thorp is no room. "I regard tho present Pattcson wins," said Bishop Crosslcy. "ns a monument to the zeal of niv predecessor, but it is an exceedingly ugly one." The trustees and governors of tho college had met, ho continued, and unanimously resolved to ask that a national fund bo raised for the purpose of providing money to build new premises. '-That resolution had been sent on to the Primate, who had in turn transmitted it to tho various dioceses for consideration. Unfortunately, ono diocese, Christuhurch, had thrown out tho proposal. "Tho wisest IMt\e to do i\o\v," tvdded tl\o Bishop, "would be fo erect a suitable wooden biiilfjing , to home 10 or 20 men, for KiicJi n building , illicit nflerwmls l<9 transformed into n permanent residence for n tutor, or for others connected with the collogo. Tho difficulty is that the trustees have no money, and whether tho General Synod would (rive us authority to borrow on our land to provide the necessary funds is a matter of doubt. Ono great hope, that T cling to, therefore, is that some generous benefactor may lend us tho sum necessary. Tt would have'to !», (o ,i great extent, a loan of honour."
