NATIVE LAND BILL.

AS AMENDED BY COMMITTEE. The Native Land Bill was reported by Hie Native Affairs Committee to (lie House of Representatives yesterday. It is iio,v proposed Hint the Bill, when passed, should come into operation on December 1, 1012. The clause regarding forfeiture of land acquired in violation of Part 12 of the principal Act is amplified by the addition of provisions for the extinction of leasehold interests, and the forfeiture to the Crown of tho foe simple of the land concerned, to be disposed of according to the provisions of the Land Act. The proposal that no compensation should 1)0 payable for land takon for roads has Ixson struck out, and machinery provided for tho payment of compensation. Another new clause provides for the reservation of lands for the uso of the Natives.
