Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., opened an .inquest yesterday concerning the death of Frediwick Williams, who died in a cell at the Terrace Gaol at about 9 o'clock on Sunday morning. Doctors Fyffo and Gilmer gave evidence to the effect that a port-mortem had revealed that death was duo to bleeding of the lung 3.' Tho inquiry was ndjourned till 10 o'clock thia morning so that the evidence of one of the warders might be taken. ACCIDENT AT PETONE. About 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon a man named Michnol Phillips, employed as a boilermaker's assistant at the Gear Meat Company's works, sustained a fracture of the leg. Ho was engaged in bending railway iron, when he slipped, and a crowbar fell heavily on his leg. Phillips is ft married man, residing in Fitzherbert Street, Petone. After medical aid hud been summoned, tho injured man was conveyed to tho Wellington Hospital. KICKED BY A HORSE. As the result of a kick from a horse, Henry Styles. 37 years of age, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday suffering from a broken thigh. He is n. married man, and resides at 39 Queen btreet,!
