SETTLERS FOR CANADA.
INFLUX FKOM UNITED STATES. Sy TeleeraDh—Press Association—Copyrlclit (Eec, October 20, 5.5 ft.m.) Ottawa, October 20. In the six months ended September 30 273,000 immigrants entered Canada. Of these 158,000' came from Britain and Europe, and 80,000 from the United States.
All the indications are that Canada is attraoting;. grentor numbers than ever before—the immigration of the past fiscal year having equalled 5 per cent, of tho population of the Dominion. In the year which ended on March, 31 lost, 220,527 entered at ocean ports, and 133,710 went from the United States. Moreover, the figures for tho past decade have been:—
Of the 220,527 who entered through ocean ports, 138,121, or over 62 per cent., were from the British Isles.
